The Sanctuary of Truth is one of the must-visit destinations located near Pattya, which is famous for its wooden structure; build according to traditional Thai architectural design. This wooden structure has a deep meaning and is dedicated as a spiritual structure and truth-seeking symbolism.

The work of this structure is totally different, with the carvings and themes depicting that from Buddhism and Hinduism and the great mythological stories. The Sanctuary of Truth is not only a spiritual structure, but represents the great artwork of the skilled Thai craftsman, and honoring the culture and heritage of Thailand.

What are the main highlights of the place?

  • The wooden work and its intricate carving make its one of the best wood works in the world. The entire structure is made from teak wood, and the highlight of this structure is that no nails are used to construct it. The wooden pillars and the roofs are locked with each other. 
  • The carvings in The Sanctuary of Truth comprise of scenes from mythological stories, ancient legends and based on the religious philosophies. Every corner of the designs of this structure has its own special meaning.
  • The spiritual and philosophical themes are based on the Asian philosophies about the universe, relationship of mankind with the universe, ancient knowledge about the humans and the universe, etc.

  • The Sanctuary of Truth of was build in 1981, and is construction is still going on, however despite the construction work, visitors will be able to have a glimpse of this architectural wonder.

How to Reach The Sanctuary of Truth?

  • From Pattaya City Center: Tourists can easily reach The Sanctuary of Truth from Pattaya City Center by tuk-tuk, motorbike taxi, or hire a private car. It will take around 15-20 minutes (depending on traffic) to reach The Sanctuary of Truth, which is around 7 km away from Pattaya City Center.  
  • From Bangkok: Tourists can easily reach Pattaya from Bangkok by car, bus or taxi. You can take the bus from Bangkok’s Eastern Bus Terminal (Ekkamai) which will take around 2-3 hours to reach Pattaya, which is around 150 km away from Bangkok. From Pattaya, take a tuk-tuk, motorbike taxi, or hire a private car to reach.
